Participant Story: Maggie

A native of the Northern Mariana Islands, Magdalena (Maggie) is a retired CNA and a former organizer with SEIU. She is now caretaking for her husband, who has suffered a series of strokes, and spends her free time volunteering at a community center in South Stockton.

“SEED had offered me since February of this year so that is a help so when the SEED came my disability together with the SEED I’m putting it together for my rent and my PG&E and my medicine. I put those together. I pay my rent and my rent my PG&E and the co-payment of my medicine my husband get paid fully for MediCal. Me, I have to pay my co-pay. So that helps. So that helps us. Part of them the money I get every month now I get the I used a little bit of the money that I get the SEED money I help get some for our food…”
